Mayzsoul Inc., based in metropolitan Washington, DC, is proud to present Sticky at Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) on Saturday, August 22nd at 8pm. Choreographed exclusively by members of Mayzsoul, Sticky will provide its viewers with a non-stop visual feast of imagination and creativity. Collaborative creativity is the driving ethos of Mayzsoul Inc., a community of artists/dancers that puts into motion Mahatma Gandhi’s missive: “Be the change you seek to make in the world.”

Inspiring Sticky are the sticky situations one might find oneself in, thoughts that you cannot get out of your head, magnets, and so much more! Director and choreographer Melanie Lalande’s diverse background includes choreographing the hip-hop tour of The Roots and her current work as artistic director of Cirque du Soleil’s Kooza. We have the privilege of an original piece of music composed exclusively for Mayzsoul by Seth Stachowski, a Cirque du Soleil composer and band leader.

Sticky follows Mayzsoul Inc.’s 2008 performance at DNA, The Pull, also created by Melanie Lalande. Please join us for a tremendous performance that promises to entertain and provide a thought-provoking, beautiful experience.

Mayzsoul is honored to present God Only Knows, choreographed by Melanie Lalande, for the Angel Fund.

The fundraiser will take place at Westfield High School on Friday, May 22nd at 7:00 PM. Tickets are not required, and donations are welcome. The evening will include dancing, singing, bands, and comedy sketches, in hopes of raising money for scholarships and the Angel Fund. For more information about the Angel Fund, click here.

Mayzsoul will present ‘Episodes’ on February 28th, 2009 8pm at the Ernst Cultural Center (NOVA Annandale)

Come join us Saturday, February 28th for a ride through the minds of the Mayzsoul artists! Our upcoming show entitled “Episodes” will take our audience on a journey through a series of vignettes originating from the life experiences and imaginations of some old and some new choreographers to the company. This time around, we had the privilege of having an original piece of music composed exclusively for Mayzsoul by Seth Stachowski, a Cirque du Soleil composer and band leader. We hope you can join us for an evening filled with glimpses into the triumphs, challenges and mazes of our lives.
